Mr. Christopher Abu was appointed as the Managing Director of Garki Microfinance Bank Ltd on August 20, 2024, succeeding Mr. Ahmed Hamman, the former MD/CEO, who retired after completing two terms at the helm. Mr. Abu holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Financial Management, a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, a Diploma in Accounting, and is a Microfinance Certified Banker (MCIB). He is also a Certified Member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN), and a Fellow of the National Institute of Credit Administration (NICA).

With extensive experience, Mr. Abu has served as the MD/CEO of EWT Microfinance Bank Ltd, as well as in various leadership roles at Pillar Microfinance Bank, including Marketing and Research Manager, and Head of Audit and Internal Control. He has also worked at Diamond Bank Plc in several departments, including Retail Banking, Marketing, Customer Service, Risk Management, and the Compliance & Internal Control Unit.

In addition to his banking career, Mr. Abu has contributed as a consultant in Business Development and Process Optimization for Peace Microfinance Bank Ltd. He also worked as an Audit Staff and Financial Management Consultant at F.A. Adumu & Co., Chartered Accountants.
